As I work with many websites doing search engine optimization, I often see the same situation, many pages are indexed in Google, but none in Yahoo! Here is how to get indexed quickly in the Yahoo! search engine.

First, you need your on-page SEO done, you need to put every chance on your side by doing some good, basic SEO on your web pages. I won't go into details in this article, this is not the prupose is this blog post, but good on-site SEO includes:

  • Good use of the 'title' tag with your page keywords
  • Name your images relevant with your keyword(s)
  • Insert "alt" tags on your images with your keywords
  • Have good original, relevant content, absolutely no duplicate content
  • Setup an XML sitemap
  • ...
These are very basic, but often forgotten by many website owners, site builders & webmasters. Note that intelligent link building also helps getting ranked in Yahoo search engine.

Once your website has 'good' on-page SEO, here are the 3 simple steps to get listed in the Yahoo! search engine quickly:
    1. Submit your XML sitemap using the Yahoo! site explorer (Yahoo's webmaster tools access)
    2. Bookmark your pages using Yahoo! Buzz
    3. Go in your Yahoo! profile, find your Bookmarks (usually in Best of my Yahoo!) and add some of your pages there.
Voilà! That's all there is to it, getting your web pages indexed by Yahoo! is simple, when you know what Yahoo! is looking for! You can get listed within days using this proven technique.
